NOSLEEP4DRAMAS IS BACK! Thank you to everyone who waited for me over the last couple of weeks while I moved. I am actually surprised because I was busier in June for the move than I was in July except for the weekend I moved and the week after. I am glad that I am back now in August and not delayed into August as well due to the move. Since I am watching so many dramas right now, I don’t think I will add any airing dramas into my current watchlist, but we will have to wait and see.

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN JULY 2026

I bounced back in July even though I moved. I am actually surprised I finished as much as I did. As I said above, June was busier than July was for me even with the move. Mostly because I did not really do anything in July to save money. I also was saving up energy for the move. So, for the first half of July, I did not leave my apartment much. This allowed me to get some dramas off my current watchlist and also binge some quick extra variety shows that were not on my current watchlist.

Teach You a Lesson (Kdrama)(NETFLIX): I knew I was going to love this Kdrama and I was right. This Kdrama will definitely be on my favorites of 2026 end of the year list. I loved the main unit. I loved that there were multiple forms of found family. You got found family from the main working unit but you also got found family with some of students and members of the main unit or even found family between the male lead and his father-in-law. I loved the male lead and his father-in-law relationship. I loved the messages each episode had. This is a Kdrama that is a must see from 2026. I can see why so many people loved it already this year. TW for violence/bullying

RATING: 10/10

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God 10th Anniversary (KVariety) (VIKI): I LOVED THIS! I liked revisiting this Kdrama after 10 years through this show. I was laughing so hard with the 4 main actors who were in this. I found their interactions to be so funny. I am a sucker for these types of shows where they stick actors in a house together and they have to interact. I loved that they brought other cast members to hang out for dinner. I loved seeing the messages from other cast members who could not come onto the show. It was cool to see where everyone is now since the drama aired. I forgot some people who were in the Kdrama and now they are big kdrama actors/actresses themselves.

RATING: 10/10

The Vendetta of An (Cdrama) (NETFLIX): If you like cdramas like Nirvana in Fire, you will like this. It had amazing acting especially Cheng Yi who excels in these types of revenge dramas. His facial expressions and slight changes with emotions was spectacularly done. The plot is a little hard to follow so you do need to pay attention because there is a lot of characters to track and scheming. Due to this, there were parts of this drama I got bored with. There were too many villains in my opinion. The ending might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I knew it would end that way. It was sort of rpedictable. I LOVE the OSTS!

RATING: 9/10

The Lie We Lived In (Kdrama) (VIKI): Korean BLs have such unique stories, and this is one of them. It definitely has a darker tone. The leads have some great chemistry. As with most Korean BL dramas, I wish the episodes were longer cuz there are plot holes and I wish the drama had more room to explore some more story. It was a little predictable, but I enjoyed this one. You do have to turn your brain off a little because some of it was unrealistic, but I was fine with that.

RATING: 8.5/10

Coroner’s Diary: The Midnight Mysteries (CVariety) (IQIYI): If you have watched Coroner’s Diary, you should check this out. You get to see more of the cast chemistry. I loved the games. It was a little cheesy and was too short. I wanted more episodes, but it was a lot of fun and entertaining to watch. It was nice revisiting this cast to watch this. I can’t believe I forgot to watch this when I completed Coroner’s Diary earlier this year.

RATING: 8/10

Affinity (Cdrama) (VIKI): It took me WAY too long to finish this. Objectively – it was not a good drama. It did not make sense at all 🤣 Was it still entertaining – absolutely. The leads had great chemistry and there are a lot of kiss scenes. It was a TOXIC romance though. I still have unanswered questions by the end. I would say if you can turn your brain off and just want to watch something for pure entertainment, watch this. Overall, you can skip this drama because it really isn’t that good.

RATING: 6/10 (probably should be lower – this was bad…anything under a 7 for me is a bad drama)

NEW AUGUST 2026 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR

There are not a lot of dramas I am looking forward to that have confirmed premiere dates BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF RUMORED CDRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR! We will see if I choose to click play on any of these as they air. My track record tells me no. I mean I have so many dramas I still have yet to click play on that already premiered in 2026. I also am already watching 17 dramas so there is that as well. This doesn’t mean I can’t be excited for something though. I do love talking about dramas as we all know. I also love talking about dramas with you guys so, tell me in the comments when you are excited for as well.

Flex X Cop Season 2 (Kdrama) [PREMIERES AUGUST 7, 2026] (14 episodes)

I have not watched Season 1 yet so, I probably will not be watching Flex X Cop Season 2 as it airs. I still wanted to talk about it though because I do want to watch both seasons. I can’t believe it has already been 2 years since Season 1. I am assuming Season 2 will be on Hulu just like Season 1 is. If you do not know what Flex X Cop is, this Kdrama is about Ahn Bo Hyun‘s character who is chaebol heir. He joins the police force accidently and uses his wealth and connections to his advantage to solve crimes. He is very over the top. Ahn Bo Hyun is back in Season 2 but with a new female lead. Jung Eun Chae is the female lead for Season 2 and she plays Ahn Bo Hyun’s new team leader who tormented in the police academy so, they now have to work alongside each other. I am also excited to see Yoo Seung Ho play a villain, in the trailers, he looks like he is pulling off the role well. Just get ready for another fun season!

Moonshadow (Thai Drama) [PREMIERES AUGUST 12, 2026] (10 episodes)

This is an upcoming Thai GL. This drama caught my eye due to the synopsis. I have never seen any of the cast in a drama before. I am also trying to watch more GLs and BLs. Anyway, this is about a woman named Jan. She is the owner of a cozy bar who goes through a bad breakup. So, she closes her heart off and just works. Enter Key who is a singer. She and Jan have a one-night stand and now Key wants to be Jan’s sugar baby. They start getting to know each other and then Jan’s ex comes back. The cozy bar setting intrigues me because I love that setup in other dramas. Also, to have someone so boldly just declare they want to be someone’s sugar baby, I need to see this drama. Now, I have no idea where this is going to stream internationally so, we will have to wait and see.

Nour (Thai Drama) (TENCENT) [PREMIERES AUGUST 25, 2026]

Now, I don’t know much about this Thai Drama. I do like some of the actors in it such as TongTong but there a lot of people in the cast I do not know. I also don’t know much about this drama, but what I do know intrigued me. Apparently, this is another forensic medical examiner BL drama. I don’t know who the Medical Examiner is yet. As I have said before, I am a sucker for forensic medical examiner dramas as well as medical examiner BL dramas. Since this is a Medical Examiner drama, that also tells me this is a crime drama. Apparently, the leads are investigating a series of arson cases. This apparently also has a supernatural aspect to it where the medical examiner is immortal, possibly a vampire. This immortal Ken is played by TongTong. James, played by Boss Patthakarn, is the other cop who gets partnered up with Ken to investigate the case. There seems to be another couple mixed into all of this as well with another medical examiner. Of course, you add romance into it as well. We will have to see if this actually airs on Tencent/WeTV.

Mousetrap (Kdrama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES AUGUST 28, 2026] (10 episodes)

The only other Kdrama I am looking forward to in August is Mousetrap. This one looks like it is going to be a WILD RIDE! I think it has a interesting premise because what do you mean the male lead teams up with his loan shark who has been looking for him for 3 years to uncover the identity of the person who took the male lead’s identity? Part of me thinks that the writer is hiding something, maybe he is twin or his identity was never stolen. It also sounds this premise could happen to us in real life, but we will have to wait to see if that is true when we watch it. I find it curious that there are no cops in this synopsis, they are not the ones investigating this case which is a little refreshing. It looks like since this is a Netflix Kdrama, all episodes will be dropping on August 28th.

RUMORED CDRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR THAT MIGHT AIR IN AUGUST 2026

I think there is a good mix of cdramas with rumored premiere dates and cdramas that are just rumored for August. Who knows if all of these will actually premiere in August so, per usual, take this list with a grain of salt. Only believe the rumor when you are actually watching the cdrama on your screen. None of these are confirmed premiere dates, just rumored premiere dates. There is a few cdramas that are highly anticipated as well.

Before we dive into the cdramas, I have never mentioned, there is one cdrama that I have mentioned a couple of times before that is now rumored again:

Chasing Dreams is now rumored for late August or September

The Road to Splendor (TENCENT) [Rumored for August 10th] (36 episodes)

I still have yet to watch Ding Yu Xi and Ancy Deng‘s other drama together which was Melody of Golden Age, but I am still excited for The Road of Splendor. The trailer looks dramatic. I am a sucker for a couple who starts at the bottom together and fights together to win. This drama sounds like it will be that. Ancy Deng’s character is a noble woman who is accused of having an affair. Ding Yu Xi’s character is a salt dealer who must flee with her. I hope this is good because I think it does have potential.

Zhong Qi (IQIYI) [Rumored for August 13th] (40 Episodes)

I have been wanting to watch some law/lawyer dramas from China. I have some on my plan to watchlist but have never clicked play. This one seemed unique because it is not a modern drama. It also seems to be following the lives of multiple people who are starting out as lawyers which I like when I have a few characters I can follow and become invested in. There are 2 other reasons why I am interested in this drama. This screenwriter has written some great dramas that I have liked. The cast also drew my attention because there are some actors I never pictured being in this type of drama like Johnny Juang who we usually see as a soldier or a cop, not a just graduated lawyer. Cdramaland seems to be making a lot of lawyer dramas in 2026 as well. We will have to see if this actually airs on August 13th because no trailer or anything has been released.

Against the Current (TENCENT) [Rumored for August 24th] (40 Episodes)

This is a cdrama that I already talked about in my blogpost of Anticipated Cdramas of 2026 so, I probably will sound a little repetitive here if you remember what I said in that blogpost. I love a female centered drama which this seems like it is going to be. I like both Tan Song Yun and Liu Xue Yi so, I am glad to see them paired together in a drama. Liu Xue Xi has not had a drama premiere yet in 2026 and Tan Song Yun has only had 1 drama so, I think they are due for a new drama.

5 Missing Teenagers (TENCENT) [Rumored for August] (20 episodes)

I have not even heard of this cdrama until I collected this list. The synopsis of this cdrama sounds intense. This cdrama is about 5 teenagers who are kidnapped. The female cop investigates and the kidnapper turns out to be one of the teenagers’ mothers but is that really all to this case? We will have to watch and see. It sounds like there are 2 possibly 3 mysteries entwined together which makes it interesting to me. I also LOVE that this drama seems to be a female ensembled cast and is female centered. I love a female cop as the center of the story. The screenwriter is someone that has written some great crime cdramas so, that caught my attention as well.

Remnants of Gold (TENCENT) [Rumored for August] (12 episodes)

This is another cdrama that I mentioned in my Anticipated Cdramas of 2026. I just think it is a really unique looking cdrama. The cast is DEFINITELY a huge draw for me. It looks like it has a lot of strong characters living in a very harsh environment. This drama is about a group of people who is seeking treasure in a desert. It definitely looks like a wuxia drama. It also stars some HEAVY hitters in my opinion like Xin Zhi Lei and Chen Kun. Both are fantastic actors and this is a little different for them, plot wise. It also stars Yin Fang who I just watched in the fantastic movie Better Days. I really liked his acting in that movie so, he is also another reason why I am interested in this cdrama.

The Early Spring (YOUKU) [Rumored for August] (24 Episodes)

The trailer looks great. I love the cinematography. I also like both of the actors who star in this: Jing Bo Ran and Sun Qian. For some reason, I have been craving a second change romance, and this one seems like it will be just that. The leads meet at work and start a romance. Then after a misunderstanding, the female lead leaves and she returns to her hometown. They meet again after a while. Will their romance rekindle once they meet up again?

Xiao Cheng Liang Fang (IQIYI) [Rumored for August] (30 Episodes)

Just like lawyer cdramas, I have some medical cdramas I have been wanting to click play on, especially modern medical cdramas. This caught my eye for various reasons. I am sure a lot of people are excited for this drama because it stars Xiao Zhan. We have not had a cdrama with Xiao Zhan for a while and his dramas always seem to be great. Xiao Zhan plays a doctor who loses his job at a top tier hospital, and he returns to his hometown. He starts working in an emergency room of the local community hospital. It is a story of healing for both his patients but also him. This also stars Ni Da Hong, a veteran cdrama actor who I like and Shi Peng Yuan who we know I love from The Bad Kids.

Liao Zhai (TENCENT) [Rumored for August] (40 episodes)

This is one of my most anticipated cdramas for 2026. I NEED THIS TO AIR ALREADY! I talked about this cdrama in my Anticipated Cdramas of 2026 blogpost.  This cdrama caught my eye for many reasons. It looks quite unique and different. It first seems like it is going to be an anthology drama of sorts with many smaller stories in it. It also looks like it is going to be horror and fantasy which interest me a lot, especially since it is a historical setting. The cast is very recognizable with a mix of new and veteran actors. Since it looks like it is an anthology series, you have many actors/actresses as the leads in this drama. This cdrama sounds like it is going into Chinese folklore a lot which is very interesting to me. I hope this cdrama does well.

OLDER DRAMAS I PLAN TO START IN AUGUST 2026 DUE TO PODCAST RECORDINGS OR OTHER THINGS:

FAVORITE DRAMAS/MOVIES I WATCHED IN THE 1ST HALF OF 2026

We are now in July, and you know what that means. WE ARE LOOKING BACK AT THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF 2026! Now, normally this blog post would be split up between Kdramas and then Cdramas/every other drama/movie from all the other Asian countries. That COULD NOT happen this year. I have only watched 15…
