NOSLEEP4DRAMAS is back with a fan favorite! Before we dive into the MASSIVE list I have for the September Asian dramas I am looking forward to (THERE IS NO WAY I AM GOING TO BE ABLE TO WATCH EVERYTHING!) like Against the Current or Jiao Feng, I need to talk about all of the dramas and shows I completed in August. I got a mixed list for you with types of dramas and shows and ratings. We are going to talk about everything from the Cdrama Fated Hearts and the Kdrama the Prosecutor’s Proposal to crime documentaries like Death of a Pastor’s Wife. The GOOD THING – I AM ADDING AIRING DRAMAS BACK INTO MY WATCHLIST!

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN AUGUST 2026
August was an interesting month. I had just moved at the beginning of the month which means I was neck deep in unpacking. I could not stare at a screen, looking at subtitles. This caused me to listen to podcasts or turn on true crime shows that I could “watch” but not necessarily have to look at them. So, I completed some dramas and got them off my current watchlist. I also just binged a bunch of true crime shows as well. SO, LET’S GET INTO ALL OF IT!
The Prosecutor’s Proposal (Kdrama) (IQIYI): I love that BL Kdramas have unique storylines. This Kdrama is not perfect, but it is entertaining. The leads had great chemistry. The acting was good but could have been better in some scenes. This Kdrama took risks. As with most Korean BLs, the episodes were too short & this needed more episodes. This affected the story. The romance seemed rushed & needed more build up. The ending was rushed. The drama did use some AI that was noticeable, so I am sure not everyone is going to like that. It definitely was bad in the last scene. I LOVED the OSTs.
RATING: 8/10
Agent Kim Reactivated (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): I liked Teach You a Lesson more. This Kdrama is still very entertaining. It could have been 2 episodes shorter, in my opinion. I thought it dragged in the middle. I did not care about, and the drama did not need 1 side character/storyline. It had one to many villains in my opinion. I LOVED the trio of fathers. I loved the father/daughter relationship. It had great cinematography and great fighting! It clearly wants to do a season 2. Trigger Warning for violence and gore.
RATING: 8.5/10
Fated Hearts (Cdrama) (IQIYI): This is the PERFECT example of enemies to lovers! I LOVED that the leads HATED each other at the beginning. I loved that both leads were strong characters. I loved that the male lead fell hard. I love that the leads supported each other. I did not care about the sister and her whole story at all. I also thought the ending seemed rushed because everything happened in the last episode so, it wasn’t enough for me and felt like a cop out. There was also a clear acting difference between the female and male lead where the male lead stood out a lot. A lot of details throughout the drama did not make sense. This cdrama was ok. Not amazing but also not bad. The NoSleep4Dramas Podcast did a review of this drama with guests so make sure to check it out. As I talked through my thoughts in the podcast episode, my rating went down as I figured out my thoughts.
RATING: 7/10
Forensic Files II (American Show) (HULU): Due to moving & putting furniture together, I watched all 4 seasons of this show. I just needed something to listen to and not have to be looking at it all the time due to subtitles. This is nostalgic for me because I LOVE Forensic Files. It is the perfect show to just throw on and binge even when you aren’t looking at the screen. I loved that with this “Season 2”, we got updated cases.
RATING: 10/10
The Carman Family Deaths (American Show) (NETFLX): I watched a couple of crime documentaries with my family. Both were well done but 1 clearly stood out more to me. The Carman Family Deaths was a good one and still entertaining, but something was missing, ESPECIALLY when compared to Death of a Pastor’s Wife. I liked that you were always second guessing yourself if the main guy really was the bad guy. Was he a victim because of his autism or was he actually the bad guy? There were a lot of unreliable narrators in this. I think it was because really at the end of the documentary you, really weren’t satisfied. It did not give a definitely answer to who it was or how it happened. Probably because they don’t know. I don’t know, something just wasn’t satisfying to me by the of the documentary.
RATING: 9/10
Death of a Pastor’s Wife (American Show) (NETFLIX): This was the other documentary I watched with my family AND MY GOD WAS IT GOOD! Her husband is a SCUM BAG and wow, just an awful human being. You will be angry with this documentary. You get a lot of commentary from people. Her husband’s sermons were insane which you get in the documentary. My jaw dropped multiple times with how horrible her husband is. The storytelling is compelling but man this documentary is heartbreaking. The documentary doesn’t concentrate on her death but more of what she was dealing with before she died. It is a tough watch but a good watch.
RATING: 10/10

NEW SEPTEMBER 2026 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR
August seemed empty when it came to dramas and their premiere dates. SEPTEMBER IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE! I have no room on my watchlist to watch everything I am interested in. There are a lot of dramas with confirmed premiere dates but also A LOT of rumored Cdramas as well. I am definitely going to be adding Airing dramas back onto my current watchlist so, some of these dramas I WILL BE DEFINITELY WATCHING ON-AIR!

Jiao Feng (Cdrama) (TENCENT) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 6, 2026] (40 episodes)
The major draw for me with this drama is the cast. Wang Kai does not do a lot of dramas nowadays. I also like Ou Hao a lot. He has been having a fantastic year in 2026! This is a modern spy espionage drama. It is a rookie and veteran type of spy drama where some rookies come in with high hopes and aren’t jaded yet versus the veterans who have old grudges and cases they have been dealing with for a decade. This definitely not everyone’s cup of tea.

Khom Khlang (Thai Drama) (TENCENT) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 7, 2026] (10 Episodes)
I have been on a kick of Thai Bls and GLs with a crime investigation twist to their story lately. I noticed that this drama was coming out in September. This about a female police officer who is forced to collaborate with a Shaman who believes in faith and ancient rituals. They probably will have a case they have to work together on. So, of course, the classic push and pull because logic and supernatural. Of course, these shaman and police officer will start a romance. I am sure there will probably be other couples as well. I don’t think I have watched either of the leads in anything, but I do recognize some of the support cast. I am excited to have more GLs to check out.

The Ordinary Jackpot (Kdrama) (VIKI) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 10, 2026] (10 Episodes)
This is the only Kdrama in September that I am interested in. I am interested in this Kdrama for 2 reasons. It stars Lee Jun Hyuk who we love, and I will watch him in anything. The second is the premise. First off, this drama has the genre tag of fantasy on MDL. I don’t understand why this is tagged fantasy because nothing about it screams fantasy to me. So, I am curious on why that is, if it actually is a fantasy. This drama is about a regular office worker who suddenly wins the lottery. It isn’t enough to just go and quit his job and go off to an island or anything. He decides that he is just going to continue working and living his life. What the sum of money allows him to do is not worried about much with his job because he has this financial safety net. I imagine that means he can now stand up to bad bosses or toxic workplace or demand better working conditions. I am excited to see that change and what that will mean with the story.

Cold Hunt (Cdrama) (YOUKU) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 10, 2026] (18 Episodes)
Another crime drama coming to us from China. I am excited for this for 2 reasons. One is the cast. I think Wang Yang is a fairly good actor so, I have a lot of his dramas on my plan to watchlist. He also does well in the crime genre. I am also curious about a male and female cop pairing up as a team. You don’t see that enough in Asian Dramas. I am sure this cdrama is going to fly under a lot of people’s radars.

Against the Current (Cdrama) (TENCENT) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 11, 2026] (47 episodes)
I MEAN I would be CRAZY to not be excited to watch this cdrama. It was in my Anticipated Cdramas of 2026 list. I am excited for this cdrama for 2 reasons. One reason is the cast. It is a LARGE cast with many great actors and actresses in it. The leads Tan Song Yun and Liu Xue Yi are interesting because I am curious about their chemistry and how they are going to act between the two of them. I am also just really curious how their relationship is going to play out in this drama because it is a unique set up. Tan Song Yun plays a noblewoman’s daughter whose family falls from grace after her father is falsely accused of treason. Liu Xue Yi is her fiancée who abandons her after this happens. She is forced (somehow) to become a servant in his household under a new identity. This drama is all about her clearing her family’s name, gaining back her dignity and becoming a noble woman again and becoming romantically involved with Liu Xue Yi again. That set up of her rising through the ranks from servant to noblewoman again to become his wife again is the unique part. Reason 2, this drama SCREAMS household/family politics drama which is a favorite genre of mine.

The Fixers (Tdrama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 17, 2026] (10 episodes)
I always want to watch more Taiwanese Dramas because I don’t hear them talked about enough. The cast in this is a big draw for me. It has a lot of heavy hitters in it when it comes to Taiwanese Dramas. Of course, the genre also is in my lane. It is an action/crime drama. It is about a gangster who is recruited by an organization that fixes things discreetly for powerful people like criminals, politicians, businesspeople etc. People who don’t want their problems broadcasted on primetime news. So, it is about this organization that goes about fixing problems for people and how much chaos that brings to their lives as well.

Delusion (Thai Drama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 24, 2026]
I didn’t know much about this drama until it popped up on the Netflix Coming Soon section. Netflix seems to be getting more and more Thai dramas each month. I have never watched any of the actors/actresses in the cast, even though I recognize some of the actors from previews and clips of their dramas. I am more drawn to this drama because it is a crime drama. It is about a woman whose father becomes a prime suspect in a murder case due to his worsening dementia. So, she has to start investigating the crime herself. I am sure there will be a lot of “did he do it or did he not do it” discourse with this drama.
RUMORED CDRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR THAT MIGHT AIR IN SEPTEMBER 2026
I AM SCREWED if all of these come out in September because as I said, I HAVE NO ROOM ON MY CURRENT WATCHLIST right now. Nor will I have room on my current watchlist in the future either. Luckily most of the rumored cdramas have no rumored date so, we will have to wait and see if they actually premiere in the month of September or not. I think we have a good mix of action/crime/thriller versus romance, but we know this list screws towards action/crime/thriller because I skew towards that. As per usual, take this list with a grain of salt. Only believe the rumor when you are actually watching the cdrama on your screen.

Irreplaceable (YOUKU) [Rumored for September 27th, 2026] (24 Episodes)
I am mainly excited for this one because of the leads. I LOVE Wei Da Xun and will watch him in anything. I also like Zhao Jin Mai. So, I am curious about their chemistry together. Not much in the trailer and the synopsis really gives a lot of the plot away so, I am mainly interested in this drama because of the leads. Xiao Jin Mai plays a woman who is a hard worker due to family trauma. Wei Da Xun teams up with her for revenge and has her as his assistant. So, in Thus, romance blooms. I am curious what this revenge part entails.

The Vanishing Beauty (TENCENT) [Rumored for Mid-September] (28 Episodes)
I am VERY excited for this drama. This gives me Makjang vibes but Cdrama. This stars Li Yi Tong, who I like as an actress, she is a woman who seems to have everything together. She seems to have a happy marriage and successful career. On her 5th wedding anniversary, she discovers that her marriage is a lie but also a bunch of other stuff starts to crumble. So, she teams up with a lawyer to get revenge and claim her life again. The trailer even mentions The Truman Show which is a famous movie. If you know what the story of that movie it, that will give you an idea of this drama is supposed to be about. The Truman show is an American movie where a man discovers that his entire life is a reality show. His life is broadcasted 24/7 around the world and everyone in his life is an actor or crew of the show. So, Li Yi Tong’s character might have discovered that her entire life is fake or something and it comes crashing down. If there is a romance, it will be an older woman and younger man romance. I love a good revenge drama where everything falls apart and then the lead gets revenge. We don’t get enough of these in Cdramas.

Spring of the Blade (IQIYI) [Rumored for Mid to Late September] (30 Episodes)
This is another cdrama where the female lead is a part of a family. Her mother dies and the family sort of exiles her. They bring her back when she is an adult. She comes back for revenge and to find out what happened with her mother. The male lead steps in to help her with her revenge. The story of course interests me. I know some people will not like that it is again another revenge story. I also think this drama will have a lot of family politics which I always like in a drama. This looks like it might have a darker tone than some other historical cdramas at least with the trailers which I am excited for.

Abyss (IQIYI) [Rumored for Mid to Late September] (18 Episodes)
This drama is an obvious one on why I am excited about it. one is that it is a crime drama. Crime dramas will always be dramas I am excited for. Two is the cast. I am excited about the cast and not just the lead. We all know how much I love Ren Jia Lun so he is the obvious reason on why I am looking forward to this drama since he is one of the leads. The other lead is Qin Jun Jie who I ALSO LOVE as an actor. So, to have both of these actors as leads in this drama is a HUGE draw for me. This is a crime cdrama about a book that comes out that mirrors the details of a cold case that only the killer and police would know. Of course, Ren Jia Lun as the lead cop has to investigate the book and the cold case.

A Prophet (TENCENT) [Rumored for Mid to Late September] (24 Episodes)
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS CDRAMA! I have 2 obvious reasons on why I am excited for this drama. The cast is a huge draw for me. I already said I like Li Yi Tong and she is the female lead in this one. I also love the male lead, Li Xian. This seems like a very different character for him than what I have watched him in historically. Of course, this is a thriller/mystery drama so, this drama is DEFINITELY on this radar. This plot seems INTENSE! Li Xian gets married to Li Yi Tong’s character. During the wedding, a fortune teller tells Li xian that doom is coming. His father dies shortly after and his entire family fall apart. He finds out that his new wife along with a con organization is behind everything. So, Li Xian’s character decides to go undercover to infiltrate the organization and get revenge and also find his new wife. The synopsis sounds intense and different. The trailer is also giving that same vibe. It is also set in the republican era which always interests me.

Dream (TENCENT) [Rumored for Late September] (16 Episodes)
LAST but certainly NOT least, we have the cdrama Dream. I have had my eye on this for a while for 2 reasons. I love the 2 leads Liu ShiShi and Hu Xian Xu. I am excited to see Hu Xian Xu take on more of an adult role. I have only seen him do high school dramas. This also is a different role for Liu ShiShi than what I have seen her in. This is a crime drama once again so, I am interested in it. Liu ShiSHi plays a reporter. She is sent to a town to document the working life of a brewery. The brewery ends up being the location of a series of murders. She then starts to investigate these crimes. Hu Xian Xu plays a cop that is helping her.
