September was a slow month for me. I did not finish a ton of dramas but I also didn't pick up a lot of new dramas. I especially didn't start a lot of airing dramas. It looks like it will pick up for me a lot in October. I am so many dramas I plan on finishing but also a TON of dramas I want to start. There is a TON of Kdrama premieres in October and a lot of them look interesting for me.
As I have previously mentioned, I am in support of the strike that is going on against certain streaming platforms. So, I will not be mentioning or talking about any of the dramas that are supposed to air and/or are made by these streaming sites. THESE STREAMING SITES NEED TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND END THESE STRIKES SO WE CAN TALK ABOUT THE STUFF WE LOVE ALREADY! It has been going on too long! We saw success with one strike so, hopefully we will see the other strike end and then I can talk about more dramas that I loved and want to watch. For now, though, I will not be talking about certain dramas and streaming platforms and that is why.
ANYWAY....back to what I completed in September 2023
DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN SEPTEMBER
As I said above, September was a slow month for me completing dramas. I honestly don't know why. I don't know if life got in the way. I don't know if it was just the fact that I wasn't watching a ton of on-air dramas. We all know I am not a binge watcher. I didn't drop any dramas in September. I am just not quite sure why I did not complete a lot of dramas in September.
Don't Call It Mystery (Jdrama) (VIKI): I am so mad that I did not watch this sooner. I LOVED the male lead. I always have a soft spot for characters that are like Sherlock Holmes. I loved the supporting cast and the relationships they had with the male lead. I thought the cases were clever. It was well acted. I will say, I wish the last 2 episodes were put inside the drama itself versus presented as special episodes after the initial season of the drama. I felt like it threw off the drama's flow. It also definitely needs a season 2. I also need to watch the movie that followed this drama.
Jun & Jun (Kdrama)(VIKI): This is just an okay drama. It wasn't bad but it could have been better. I liked the main couple but they needed to get together sooner. I did love their chemistry together. I also got bored in the middle of the drama because nothing was going on. It could have benefited from a second couple - like a CONFIRMED second couple. It was also paced weirdly.
My Lovely Liar (Kdrama) (VIKI): I was HORRIBLY spoiled with this drama so; I knew every single detail that happened at the end of this drama. It definitely affected my rating of this drama. I did not like the motive for the crime. I did not like some aspects of the culprit. I did not like all the toxic people. I didn't like the endings for any of the toxic people because none of those characters got the endings they deserved. I loved the leads and their relationship. They were a shining point about this drama but My Lovely Liar had a lot of issues for me as well.
Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (Cdrama) (re-watch) (VIKI): This was a re-watch for me and I still ABSOLUTELY loved it. I am very bias when it comes to this drama because it was my first Xianxia drama. It was also one of the first cdramas I ever watched. I still adore the second couple but with this re-watch I think appreciated the lead couple more than I did with my first watch of this drama. I think this drama holds up but you do notice that it is an older drama compared to some of the newer Xianxia dramas that have come out recently.
NEW OCTOBER 2023 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR:
There is a TON of dramas in October that I am excited for. I mean it is honestly a little overwhelming because I am excited for a ton of the premiering Kdramas but I also have a full currently watching list. So, I am going to be adding a TON of new dramas on top of what I am already watching. I just hope I can balance it all and actually finish some of the dramas I am already watching.
The Perfect Deal (Kdrama): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 6TH, 2023]
This looks like the perfect drama for me to kick off October. It looks dark and of course if a crime drama. I have not seen any of these actors in a drama recently so I am excited to see that they are coming back with a drama in October. I also think these actors have done this genre before but not a lot. So, I love to see them act within this drama again. I am also just a sucker for a good crime drama.
My Dearest Part 2 (Kdrama) (VIKI): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 13TH, 2023]
I waited to start My Dearest for when it was closer to Part 2 airing. So, I honestly still have to watch part 1 before I start part 2. The MINUTE I heard that this is potentially based off of Gone with the Wind - I WAS SOLD! I am so excited to start this drama and see how good it is. A lot of people have been talking about this one and I can't wait to dive into it. I also just love NamKoong Min so he always makes me look forward to a drama when he is part of the cast.
Evilive (Kdrama): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 14TH, 2023]
It is a crime drama. It looks dark. This drama just has everything I love in a drama. I hope a streaming site picks this up. I feel like we have seen Shin Ha Kyun do a role like this before but I don't even care. He does this role SO WELL!! The synopsis sounds super interesting and I know the cast will do amazing in this drama. I am just looking forward to a dark crime drama for October.
The Third Marriage (Daily Kdrama): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 23RD, 2023]
Now, I am already watching the daily Kdrama so, I probably won't start this one right away. I am looking forward to it for multiple reasons. The first clue is Durian's Affair. I know from the synopsis that Yoon Hae Young will not be playing a woman who loves another woman. This poster looks a little misleading but it is a mother/daughter relationship. BUT from Durian's Affair, I know this cast can act. I also am curious to see Oh Seung Ah in a potentially good guy character because I have only every seen her play a villain. I also just love a good revenge daily kdrama to sink my teeth into.
Moon in the Day (Kdrama) (VIKI): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 25TH, 2023]
Moon in the Day has a lot going for it. There is a lot that has caught my eye. We got fantasy. We got reincarnation. We got potential possession. I am really looking forward to the pairing of the two leads. I think this drama has a lot of potential and I am ready for the ride that it will take us on. Also Pyo Ye Jin as a lead role is always nice to see. I am just really excited to see how this drama stands out next to some of other kdramas that have these same themes because I think it will stand out and be unique.
Perfect Marriage Revenge (Kdrama) (VIKI): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 28TH, 2023]
This poster and cast just scream makjang. We all know I love a juicy makjang so, I am excited to check this one out. I also love to see Sung Hoon coming back to drama land. It sounds like it has a lot of things that appeal to me too. We got scandals. We got time travel. We got cheating. and just from the title - WE KNOW THERE WILL BE REVENGE! I can't wait to watch this and see how it is.
The Matchmakers (Kdrama) (VIKI): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 30TH, 2023]
I am not watching Rowoon's other drama Destined With You right now. So, he is missing from my screen currently. Also, with what I am currently watching and what I am looking forward too, I feel like I might need a comedy to throw into the mix. The Matchmakers looks like it could check that box for me. I also love the lead actress Choi Yi Hyun who I haven't seen do a drama in over a year. I am curious to see Rowoon and her act together and what their chemistry is going to be like. I also don't think I have ever watched Choi Yi Hyun in a historical before which will be new for me.
Tiger and Crane (Cdrama) (IQIYI): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 2ND, 2023]
MAN, I HAVE WAITED A LONG TIME FOR THIS ONE! Zhang Linghe is on a roll right now so, it is not surprising that IQIYI is choosing to air this now. This also has a ton of things I love to watch in a cdrama like a group of people going around and solving cases. A group of people/friends that I can get attached too. Good looking fight scenes is also a must. I've always been a sucker for the types of dramas where an individual or a group of people set out on a journey to find themselves and to grow from the experience. So, needless to say, I am REALLY looking forward to this one. I am sure I am not the only one either.
Shadow (Thai Drama): [PREMIERES OCTOBER 31ST, 2023]
Last but not least, since I watched earlier this year, I am now on the hunt for more school Thai dramas with that same theme. Since it is also October, this drama also seems fitting to be on my radar. Does it look scary? ABSOLUTELY - I still want to check it out though. I like a lot of the cast as well so, that is always a plus for me. I hope I get access to this one.
That is all I watched in September and what I am looking forward to in October. I am really glad I am looking forward to a lot of Kdrama premieres in October. I am also glad I was able to put a confirmed cdrama in this blogpost since it has a confirmed date that it will start airing. Since it is October, I am glad that there is a scary Thai Drama that I am looking forward too as well. I am curious - what do you guys come to my blog for? What do you like reading the most?
