OCTOBER 2024 WRAP UP

I can't believe we only have 2 months left in 2024. I get very busy in the last two months of the year so; I don't anticipate completing a lot of dramas in the last 2 months of the year. I remember years in the past where I completed no dramas in November. We will just have to see how the rest of the year is. October is a different story. I completed a lot more dramas this past month than I assumed I would. I am happy about this especially if I don't watch a lot for the rest of the year. LET'S GET INTO THIS WRAP UP!

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN OCTOBER

I knew I would complete more things in October than the previous month very early on in the month. I did not start many new dramas either in October. I think I took the time to finish as many dramas off of my current watchlist as possible. Maybe I did this, knowing November and December is coming up. I probably will be doing a lot of that for the rest of the year. I loved that I completed a good variety of things this month from genres to countries.

The Apothecary Diaries Season 1 (Anime) (CRUNCHYROLL): I finally finished this anime. IT TOOK ME WAY TO LONG TO FINISH! I am so happy I watched this. I also finished it just in time to watch Season 2 in January along with My Happy Marriage Season 2 that airs in that same month. I want to watch a few more anime before the year is done but we will have to see if that happens. This anime was perfect for me. I swear if this was a cdrama, I would eat it up! I enjoyed the main girl so much. I liked her character and enjoyed all of her expressions. I loved that she was obsessed with poisons. I wish we got more on Jinshi, but I guess that is what Season 2 is for. I liked all of the mysteries and how our leads teamed up to solve them. I loved all of the relationships in this drama and the found family we got with all of the female characters and our main girl. It can have some dark topics so if you can't handle that, this might be a little difficult to watch.

Pachinko Season 2 (Kdrama) (Apple TV +): This is another drama where Season 2 is better or equal to the first season. ANOTHER AMAZING SEASON FOR PACHINKO! This is just a masterpiece of a show. I feel privileged to watch this show because it is so good. 😂 It has beautiful OSTs. It has beautiful cinematography. It has a wonderful story with a rich history. I have not read the book, so I had no idea what was going to happen or what is going to happen in future seasons. I could say some minor things I disliked that I would nitpick over, but they were very minor and really did not affect my rating as well. ANOTHER AMAZING SEASON IN THE BOOKS FOR SURE!

RATING: 10/10

Light the Night Season 2 (Tdrama) (NETFLIX): I think this was the best season of the three seasons of this drama. This is one of the rare times that season 2 was even better than season 1. THE TWISTS IN THIS SEASON WAS NUTS! I loved that I could not predict anything. I still think this drama did not need to be broken up into 3 seasons. PLEASE WATCH THIS DRAMA! It is well worth a watch. It is a crime drama but also is a drama about friendship, relationships and just life's problems. It had amazing acting, and you cared and rooted for these characters.

RATING: 9.5/10

Light the Night Season 3 (Tdrama) (NETFLIX): I liked this season a little less than season 2. I think Season 2 was the best out of the three seasons. Season 3 was still a fantastic drama though. I still had a few unanswered questions by the end of this season, but they were pretty minor. My ship of this drama also did not happen even though the two actors had AMAZING chemistry and were a lot of fun to watch. It was a bittersweet ending but well worth the watch. I HIGHLY recommend this drama to anyone.

RATING: 9/10

The Double (Cdrama) (VIKI): I am not surprised and I am sure a lot of people aren't surprised that I loved this drama. I can see why it was so popular this year. The story was SO GOOD! I loved that we got so much revenge in this drama. The chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS with our main couple. I love how both leads were smart and supported each other. A lot of the side characters you also fell in love with and enjoyed them. There was some found family in this drama which was fun and unexpected. I did have a few minor issues with the last few episodes. I wish some of the characters got different endings. I also felt like the pacing was off in the last few episodes. Lastly, I had minor issues with the ending. I wish there was one more episode or it was paced out differently. Overall - The Double was still a fantastic drama and is definitely one of my favorites of this year.

RATING: 9.5/10

Alice in Borderland Season 1 (rewatch) (Jdrama) (NETFLIX): I rewatched this because I have yet to watch Season 2. Season 3 is rumored for December or early 2025. We will have to see if that happens. I really need to watch Season 2 as fast as possible. I enjoyed this rewatch just as much as I liked it the first time I watched it. I binged this entire season in 1 sitting which was surprising. This drama definitely has a lot of trigger warnings especially for gore and violence. I love the main characters. This is another drama where you can't fall in love with anyone because they could be dead in the next scene. I have said this before, but I will say this again, Alice in Borderland is better than Squid Games in my opinion.

RATING: 9/10

Culinary Class Wars (Korean Cooking Competition Show) (NETFLIX): THE WAY THAT I WAS OBSESSED WITH THIS SHOW! I really was trying not to binge this show in one sitting. I grew up loving cooking competition shows so, I knew I would like this show. I just didn't expect me LOVING THIS SHOW! The competition was intense, but you could see that the chefs respected each other. I would advise you don't watch this on an empty stomach. You get to watch these very talented chefs cook amazing looking dishes. The show is brutal in eliminating people. You can see that these chefs learn from each other and teach each other things whether they are veteran chefs or new chefs. It was fun watching these chefs come up with their dishes and be creative. You can help but root for the underdogs. I LOVE THAT WE ARE GETTING A SEASON 2 OF THIS SHOW!

RATING: 10/10

NEW NOVEMBER 2024 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR:

This always happens to me. The months where I have little to no time to watch dramas - these are the months where I am looking forward to A LOT of dramas. Now, I am on the fence with a couple of the dramas on this list. We will see if I click play on all of these. I also don't know where some of these dramas will stream either. There are a lot more crime dramas coming out November than I anticipated. At least, we have some variety in what kind of crime dramas they are.

Love is a Poison (Jdrama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES NOVEMBER 5TH, 2024]

There are three things that get me interested in this drama. One, it is a Japanese drama which I always feel like I don't watch enough of. Two, this sounds like it is a thriller law drama or a crime drama. Always a plus for me. Three, it sounds like this drama is a gay romance drama. I feel like I don't watch enough of these either so, I always add them to my list to watch. I have so many on my list that I want to watch from not just Japan but other countries. Another plus is that this is a cohabitation drama where the two leads live together. I like that trope a lot. So, there are many things that this drama has going for it that I am interested in.

Face Me (Kdrama) (VIKI) [PREMIERES NOVEMBER 6TH, 2024]

I am curious about this drama because it is a mix of a medical and a crime drama. I am not the biggest fan of medical dramas but if they are mixed with crime, usually I like them better. I think the story has an interesting setup. You have a plastic surgeon who provides care to crime victims and a cop who is in charge of the victims who come to him. They, obviously, don't get a long at first but eventually get along after working together on cases. I like Lee Min Ki and I think he does well with crime dramas. I loved him from this year's Crash and other crime dramas I have seen him do in the past. I have never watched the female lead actress in anything, but I know of her, and I know other people like her from her other dramas. I also like a lot of the support cast in this one.

Gangnam B-Side (Kdrama) (DISNEY +) [PREMIERES NOVEMBER 6, 2024]

I am unsure about this one. Maybe because it seems to remind me of The Worst of Evil which I have heard mixed reviews about and never watched. Maybe this drama reminds me of that drama because there is a lot of the same cast in this one. It is also unclear if I will get access to this one right away so, that is another reason why I am on the fence about this one. On the plus side, it looks dark and a crime drama. It has some interesting choices in the cast which intrigues me. The fact that this drama stars one of the actresses from Extraordinary Attorney Woo , Ha Yoon Kyung, interested me a lot. We will see if I get access to this one and if I decide to watch this one. It is only 8 episodes so; it is short which is nice.

Parole Examiner Lee (Kdrama) [PREMIERES NOVEMBER 18, 2024]

I was excited for this one because of the cast. I am still excited for this drama because of the cast. I then saw the first trailer and poster. It had comedy in it which I was not expecting. I need to know more information on this before I decide if I am 100% going to click play or not. I love Go Soo, Kwon Yu Ri and Lee Hak Joo. I was so happy to see them as the cast with this drama. The comedy part is just giving me pause, just because I am so iffy on my comedy. I will probably have to decide when it comes closer to the premiere date. It will probably also depend on how well I am doing with the dramas on my current watchlist and if I will have time to click play on this. This drama also does not have a streaming site yet so, I have to wait and see if I will even have access to it. This drama is a maybe right now. There are some other crime kdramas from 2024 that I still haven't watched either.

When the Phone Rings (Kdrama) (RUMOR is NETFLIX) [PREMIERES NOVEMBER 22, 2024]

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS DRAMA!! I think this is the Kdrama I am most looking forward to in November. This looks like it is going to be an intense drama. I definitely am excited for this drama due to the story. It seems unique and I am curious how they are going to pull the story off. Will the differences in characters impact the story - especially around communication? You have a husband and wife. The husband, played by Yoo Yeon Seok, is an up-and-coming politician from a prestigious political family. He is very popular. His wife, played by Chae Soo Bin, had an accident which left her mute. She gets kidnapped one day and he now has to race to find her. The first trailer looks intense and something I would love.

Petrichor (Thai Drama) (IQIYI) [PREMIERES NOVEMBER 23, 2024]

Just to have something different on the list for November, here is a Thai drama that caught my eye. FIRST OFF - it is a crime drama. I always appreciate a crime drama. Second, it is a GL drama which if I watch this drama, it will be my first GL drama. I am also a sucker for a crime drama where a cop teams up with a forensic doctor. I liked Manner of Death so; I don't think I will dislike this one. I may not know many of the actors/actresses in the cast, but I know a few. I am always opened to get introduced to more actors/actresses in dramas I watch. The first trailer looks like it had some budget and definitely has some crime in it. I am intrigued and I am glad I will have access to this one.

The Tale of Lady Ok (Kdrama) (RUMOR is NETFLIX) [PREMIERES NOVEMBER 30, 2024]

I am also on the fence about this Kdrama. On one hand, the synopsis says the female lead is a legal expert. One the other hand, the first trailer of this drama says nothing about being a legal expert. Also, MDL has nothing in the tags or genres to say it is a legal drama. I am starting to think this is a mistake and it has nothing to do with the law. It looks like an intense drama. The first trailer talks about the female lead, plays by Im Ji Yeon, she is a female slave who fights for survival. I have not watched a historical kdrama in a while. This looks like it will be intense and angsty but also has a strong female lead. I always do love a story with a strong female lead who goes through the ringer and comes out victorious on the other side. The cinematography from the trailer looks beautiful. I need for more information but I am interested FOR SURE! I just question can I handle this angst that it seems to have.
