NOVEMBER 2024 WRAP UP

As per usual, November has flown by, and I have not completed a lot of dramas. We knew this would happen. It has happened every November for at least the last 3 or so years. November is just a really busy month for me in general but November this year was EVEN more busy due to some onetime events that happened and that I had to travel/be out of town for. I, as an American, also had Thanksgiving and family time to celebrate which also was a factor on why I did not complete a lot of dramas this November. We knew this was going to happen so, it is not a surprise. It DOES MEAN that I have a lot of drama watching and catching up to do in the last month of 2024 before 2025 rolls around.

DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN NOVEMBER

As I just explained above, I only completed 1 drama in November. I knew this was going to happen because it always does. Some Novembers in the past, I did not complete anything so, I am glad I at least completed 1 drama. There are many reasons why this happens every year and I explained some of those reasons above and some reasons I did not mention. I think it will be safe to say that I just won't ever complete a lot of dramas in November of any year and maybe not plan to start any new dramas because I know I never have time to watch anything in November anyways. I really did not start any new dramas either in November 2024 due to this very reason.

The Judge from Hell (Kdrama) (HULU): This Kdrama will DEFINITELY be in my end of the year list of favorite Kdramas of 2024. I loved Park Shin Hye in this role. I loved how unapologetically evil she was. I also loved her characters' progression through the story. The chemistry between her and Kim Jae Young was great. I am glad to see him back on my screen and look forward to seeing more of him in the future. I loved the story and lore in this drama. I will say a trigger warning because this drama is quite violent. For someone like me who loves crime and thrillers, this drama didn't affect me much but for someone who might not usually watch those genres, this drama needs a trigger warning FOR SURE! There was 1 thread that did not wrap up by the end of the drama and left me with questions but OVERALL, it was still VERY entertaining. This Kdrama was definitely one of the good ones from 2024.

RATING: 9.5/10

Red One (American Movie) (SEEN IN MOVIE THEATER): I saw this with my family over Thanksgiving. I actually enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. Was it the best movie I had ever seen? ABSOLUTELY NOT! It was still entertaining though. It was one of those movies where you turn on and turn off your brain and just watch it. It was a Christmas movie so; it definitely got me in the spirit of Christmas. It definitely was a unique Christmas movie because it had action but also brought in some unique Christmas lore. It was a fun time and is perfect for a fun Christmas movie if you want something different to check out for the holidays.

NEW DECEMBER 2024 DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR:

Since I am preparing this blogpost a little into December, I actually can talk about some dramas coming out in December from countries other than Korea. There aren't many Kdramas coming out in December that I am interested in. At least, December will give me options and variety. I decided to talk about some rumored Cdramas even though I don't usually do that because this blogpost would be VERY SHORT if I did not. SO, ENJOY THIS RARE MOMENT! We will have to wait and see if the rumors come true. I am curious what I will actually start though in December since I am still behind on dramas I was watching in November, and I am still very busy in December as well.

Light Shop (Kdrama) (Disney +/HULU) [PREMIERES DECEMBER 4TH, 2024]

I am excited for this upcoming Kdrama for 2 reasons. One reason is I am excited for the cast. I LOVE a good ensemble cast and this cast has some heavy hitters in it like Ju Ji Hoon and Park Bo Young. I love both of these actors, and the supporting cast keeps getting better and better with names being added to the cast. The director is Kim Hee Won who also did Moving so, that is a plus for this drama as well. My second reason is the trailer and synopsis of this drama is sort of reminding me of the Kdrama Missing: The Other Side. One of my favorite Kdramas, so, if Light Shop is anything like that Kdrama, I am sure I will love it. FUN FACT: I did not know this until I looked at MDL but APPARENTLY China did a movie adaption of the webtoon (called Love Life Light) that Light Shop is adapted from last year. I am now curious if I can find this movie. Maybe I can do a future Versus podcast episode if I do.

Black and White Forest (Cdrama) (TENCENT) [PREMIERES FOR DECEMBER 4TH, 2024]

MAN! Ding Yu Xi is having quite the year! This is his 4th drama to air in 2024. I think it is quite obvious why I am excited for this Chinese drama. Ning Li plays the older cop in this drama, and I quite like him as well. So, this pairing looks good to me. It looks like it could be quite entertaining to see them work together. I have quite a few Ding Yu Xi dramas to still watch. I don't think I have watched him play a cop before so, that intrigues me. I always love crime dramas so, OF COURSE, I am excited about this one.

Tomorrow and I (Thai Drama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES DECEMBER 4TH, 2024]

This looks like a unique watch to me. It is a 4-episode anthology series that will premiere on Netflix. I have had good track records with anthology series. One that comes to mind that I loved was the Korean anthology series SF8. SF8 also had a Sci-Fi theme which Tomorrow and I also has so; I think I will like this series. I am curious about the stories we will get and given that it is Thai - how unique it will be. I am also happy that it is short. The poster and trailer ALREADY look amazing. It sort of reminds me of Black Mirror a little from the trailer.

Blossom (Cdrama) (TENCENT/IQIYI) [PREMIERES DECEMBER 6TH, 2024]

We are getting another cdrama with "Blossom" in the title before the year is done. I have had my eye on this one for a while for many reasons so, I am happy to see it has a premiere date. First reason is the trailer looks BEAUTIFUL for this drama. It really caught my eye when I first watched it. Second reason, I like Li Yun Rui a lot so, I am happy to see him finally getting some lead roles. I also like Zoey Meng, but I just have seen more of Li Yun Rui's dramas so, I have more of an opinion of him. They both look fantastic in the trailers and posters. The synopsis is giving me a lot of things I love. It sounds like it has a lot of tropes I love in dramas. It sounds like there is a contract marriage or marriage of convenience and then they fall in love afterwards. It sounds like there is a little mystery woven into the story. Another reason I am excited for this drama is I feel like I have not watch enough cdramas this year so, I am always excited to see another one that I am interested in get a premiere date.

Squid Game Season 2 (Kdrama) (NETFLIX) [PREMIERES DECEMBER 26, 2024]

I think this is an obvious one for me to be excited about. I am trying to not have too high of expectations for Squid Game Season 2. I enjoyed Season 1 so; I am curious what Season 2 will do. Of course, A lot of other people are going to be watching this one. I am excited for all of the new additions to the cast. I am hoping I can watch this one right away so, I am not spoiled too much. We will have to see. I am hoping it is a bigger scale and higher stakes. I am excited to continue with some of the character stories we need to finish in the Season 2 and the upcoming Season 3. I hope it is just as exciting as Season 1.

Love Song in Winter (Cdrama) (IQIYI) [RUMORED TO PREMIERE IN DECEMBER 2024]

This cdrama wasn't really on my radar but then I read the synopsis which I had not seen previously. You have a guy who is supposed to be dead return and then also ex-lovers reunite to investigate this mystery. That is an interesting concept. I did not know this drama was supposed to be a mystery. All of the teasers HEAVILY showed romance. So, now I am skeptical. Will this drama be full blown romance and the synopsis is wrong, or will it be a good mix of both? This is rumored for December and would be a good drama (from all of the trailers we have gotten so far) to watch when it is cold outside due to how the drama looks and the fact that it has winter in the title. We will have to see if it actually materializes in December.

Under the Skin Season 2 (Cdrama) (IQIYI/TENCENT) [RUMORED TO PREMIERE IN DECEMBER 2024]

I NEED THIS DRAMA LIKE YESTERDAY! I am honestly surprised that this is rumored to air by the end of 2024. We do know though that Cdramaland throws out a lot of dramas in the last couple months of the year so, we will have to see if this actually premieres in December. I know a lot of people would be happy if it did start to air this month - myself included. Season 1 was SO GOOD so; I am excited to revisit the team in Season 2. I am curious what cases there will be in Season 2. I have said I am a little wary of Season 2 as well because it is not written or directed by the same team as Season 1. I hope it is just as good. We will have to wait and see.

The Blossoming Love (Cdrama) (YOUKU) [RUMORED TO PREMIERE IN DECEMBER 2024]

Another Cdrama that is rumored for December that I am surprised is rumored to come out before the end of the year. I think I just have the expectation that Youku would wait until 2025 to release this. I have talked about this drama a few times before. I am excited for the leads (Vin Zhang and Sun Zhen Ni) and their pairing. It is a Xianxia which I am ALWAYS excited for. I like some of the supporting cast so, that is always a plus. We will have to wait and see if this actually started to air in December or if it will be pushed back to 2025.

I really am behind on dramas due to how busy I was in November so; I don't know how many of these dramas I will be starting in December. I want to clear off my current watchlist as much as possible before 2025 starts. I already have a list of dramas I sort of want to finish before the year is out as well. I don't want to enter 2025 with a million dramas on my current watchlist. It also depends on how busy I get in December as well. I also have dramas I wanted to watch that came out in 2024 that I never got around to watching either....
