I realized I never made a "MY WATCHLIST" Blogpost/Podcast episode for May 2024. That means that My Watchlist now looks mostly COMPLETELY different. Especially since June seems to be the month where I watch all of my English-speaking shows as well. For some reason, the 3-4 English speaking shows that I keep up with have all started to air in June. So, some of those shows have been added to my current watchlist.
KDRAMAS
Bad Thief, Good Thief - I am still slowly watching this Korean drama. I am probably going to be watching this one for the rest of the year. All of the main characters are enemies at the moment so, it will be interesting to see which character breaks first. which character either starts to romantically like the female leads first or want to be friends with the other main characters. We all know the four main characters will be friends again since they were friends for a bit when they were all children. I definitely will need some satisfying endings for these villains because a couple of them are driving me nuts. We still have a lot to go to finish this drama. I have another daily drama coming up in September that I want to watch as well.
Connection - I HAVE NO IDEA WHO TO TRUST!! There are so many villains who are eventually going to turn on each other. I LOVE the twists and turns in the drama. Because there are so many twists and turns, I have a lot of anxiety watching this drama. This is a TRUE THRILLER! Also, EVERYONE IS ACTING THEIR BUTTS OFF! Now, I am behind on this drama. I am not caught up so, I am sure this drama gets crazier and crazier as you go on. Also, the camera work in this drama is great. The use of camera work to portray a cop who is addicted to drugs and trying desperately to fight the urge to take the drugs and to figure who made him addicted to drugs with the use of cameras is brilliant.
The Player 2: Master of Swindlers - I am behind on this drama. I only watched the first couple of episodes. I rewatched Season 1 first because it has been 6 years or so since I watched Season 1. I am glad I rewatched Season 1 before watching this new season. You don't absolutely have to watch Season 1 before you watch this new season, but it does start pretty much where Season 1 ended. Season 2 CLEARLY has more budget. It has also been fun to revisit this gang and get back into the world of scamming with this crew. It is sad that one of the main characters could not return but I like her replacement. THE VILLAINS ARE DELICIOUS IN THIS DRAMA!
CDRAMAS
Blossoms in Adversity - I am about halfway through this drama. I agree with what a lot of people have said on social media about this drama. At the beginning, I did not care about the romance because it really didn't show up right away. Halfway through now, it has grown on me. I think the main couple is cute. I like how they handle conflict and communicate well. They have not had major conflicts yet in their relationship, but I am sure we will get there. I have not found the big villains yet in the drama, but I can see the emperor becoming one eventually. He is on the edge of becoming the mad king which will be interesting to watching because our male lead clearly loves his uncle but does not agree with everything he does. I am curious to learn more about the male lead's sister and their background. A highlight for me with this drama is the women and what they have done to survive. I have loved seeing them grow through this hardship and start to support each other. I think some of the women still have secrets and we have not seen all of the storylines from them yet. The family has been a highlight for me with this drama though. I also like that we have a family of businesswomen. I love that we are already seeing some changes within the family characters from how they were at the beginning of the drama and when they first lost everything to where I am in the drama now. I am curious what other conflicts will come up in the second half of this drama.
ANIME
Yu Yu Hakusho - I am still loving my rewatch of this anime. I have not made it to the tournament yet. I am still in the part of the anime when Yusuke is a spirit detective. I have met everyone who will eventually join this team eventually. I forgot how much comedy was in this anime. I can see why people were criticizing the live adaption for barely touching the detective part of this anime. It is a lot of fun to watch Yusuke tackle these cases. I also forgot how attached I get to these characters when I watch this anime.
TDRAMAS
The Victim's Game Season 1 - I am currently rewatching Season 1 of The Victim's Game because Season 2 was FINALLY released yesterday on NETFLIX. I am on episode 3 of Season 1. I am not going to much about this drama because I don't know how many times I have mentioned this drama over the years. I have wait 4 years for Season 2 of The Victim's Game and honestly, I can't believe it is finally here. I am rewatching Season 1 because I really don't remember much of Season 1. Just a warning again for people, this is a GRUESOME drama. It shows bodies and autopsies and the crimes so, if you can't stomach that sort of thing, this might not be the drama for you. I mean you see the decaying bodies with lots of details. IT IS WORTH IT THOUGH! I am so excited to dive back into this story and characters and be able to watch 2 seasons of this drama now.
OTHER COUNTRY SHOWS
Bridgerton Season 3 - Yes, I watch Bridgerton. My friend got me into it last year. I watched Queen Charlotte before Season 3 came out. I am glad I did because it gives more context to some major side characters and their relationship. I have watched the first 3 episodes of this show so far. I LOVE COLIN AND PENELOPE'S CHEMISTRY SO FAR! I have heard mixed review about the second half of this show so, I will be curious what I think of it. It is funny because I found both Colin and Penelope a bit annoying in Season 1, but they grew on me in Season 2. I hate that the show decided to put the Eloise and Penelope conflict in the show at all. I am curious who Season 4 will focus on.
SOME DRAMAS I PLAN TO ADD TO MY CURRENT WATCHLIST SOON
That is my current watchlist for June 2024 and some dramas I plan to add to it soon. My watchlist is much shorter than previous months. It is intentional because I have worked hard to get a lot of dramas off of my current watchlist to have room to add new dramas. I do still need to get a couple of kdramas off my watchlist and catch up on those. I also want to add more cdramas to my watchlist but we will have to see what July brings us.
