I haven't done a "MY WATCHLIST" post in a little bit. I don't know why I just skipped JULY but I just did. 😂 Maybe it was a preview for how the end of 2022 is going to be with this blog. I have some major life changes happening at the end of the year so blog posts might be less at the end of the year for a little bit until I am settled a bit into 2023. WE WILL SEE but TRUST ME - this blog isn't going anywhere!
ANWAY - time for another "MY WATCHLIST" post for the month of August. Needless to say, I think this month's list is COMPLETELY different from what it was back in June. I finished some dramas, dropped some other dramas and started new ones. I also am not watching a TON of dramas right now which might continue until the end of the year as I said - DUE TO LIFE.
Here is what I am currently watching in AUGUST 2022!
Remember if I put *ADDICTED* next to any drama, that means I AM LOVING THE DRAMA!
KDRAMAS
A Model Family - Maybe I should take a break from INTENSE dramas for a bit. THIS DRAMA goes from 0-100 in two seconds in the first 10 minutes and hasn't slowed down. Some scenes are so intense that I can only watch one episode a day right now. I love when you can't predict where a drama is going but MAN, this drama makes me anxious. I also don't love some of the main characters. They make me angry and annoyed every time there are on screen but that might just be a me thing. It does say that the acting is PHENOMENAL in this drama if I have that reaction to actors playing their characters. This is very violent and a bit gory so if that isn't your thing, this drama isn't for you.
Alchemy of Souls - I like this drama but it isn't my favorite that I am watching. This may be just because I am MULTIPLE weeks behind on this drama. I love the magic and fantasy in the drama. I love all the characters and I am still invested to find out what happens with these characters. I don't think I am bored with it either - I just have to catch up on episodes.
Hunted - I am so glad that I FINALLY have access to this drama. It is only 4 episodes and I have watched the first 2 episodes. The story definitely went in a direction I did not predict so, I am curious to find out how this drama will end in the next couple of weeks.
Let Me Introduce Her - I lost access to the previous daily drama I was watching so, I had to start a new one. I like this one so far. It isn't as makjang and crazy as I would like but I am curious to find out some more of the secrets that are floating around in the plot. I am trying to not compare this one to Love in Sadness WHICH I WAS ADDICTED TO AND LOVED when I watched it as it aired. This is definitely not this drama.
Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist (*ADDICTED*) - I am very surprised that I am LOVING this drama so much. I love the found family. I even love the little lessons that are taught with every episode. Kim Min Jae and Kim Hyang Gi as a potential couple ARE ADORABLE! It does have its dark moments which I think makes me like this drama even more because it balances it out. I just look forward to the new episodes every week AND I CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE HALF WAY DONE WITH THE DRAMA ALREADY!
CDRAMAS
Checkmate - My advice for this drama is don't watch it after My Roommate is a Detective. I can't help but compare this drama to My Roommate is a Detective and that isn't fair to Checkmate. I LOVED MY ROOMMATE IS A DETECTIVE! Checkmate is not that drama and doesn't even compare. I need to be objective with Checkmate because I am going to not like it if I try and find My Roommate is a Detective in it. I am not that far into Checkmate. I love the setting as I always do. I love the lead actors. They are not the same as they were in My Roommate is a Detective which threw me off but I need to get over that. This drama is based off of various Agatha Christie mysteries so, you might not enjoy this drama if you know the stories very well. I am fortunate that I don't remember the endings of the mysteries I have seen so far. Checkmate isn't bad. I just am not far in it and I need to be more objective.
JDRAMAS
Takara-kun to Amagi-kun - I just started this drama yesterday. I am loving all the Japanese BL dramas we are getting this year. This one is off to a good start. The structure of the story threw me off at first. The acting is great so far though. I think the main couple have GREAT potential and their chemistry is good. I am curious to see if the structure of the first episode happens throughout the drama. It is fine if it does now that I am used to it. I also LOVED the internal monologue that both characters had. It gives depth and character to the plot and their characters.
ANIME
Jujutsu Kaisen - I decided I wanted to add some anime to this blog once in a while. I haven't watched an anime in YEARS!! There are a ton of favorites that people talk about that I have never seen. If you have any suggestions, let me know! I started Jujutsu Kaisen from a recommendation. I like it so far! It has a lot of things I love. It has some tropes from anime/dramas that I love which is always fun. It is exciting and I am curious to see what happens in the plot as I continue watching it. I know Season 2 is supposed to come out this year at some point.
AMERICAN SHOWS
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 - I don't watch many English-speaking shows anymore but Only Murders in the Building is an exception. I binged the first season last year at some point and got hooked. I am behind on this show and it ends next week but it will be a nice mini-binge to do next week. I am curious how it will end and I am excited to see who the real murderer is. The comedy and the lead trio are always a HIGHLIGHT of this show.
September is going to probably be my last month I am going to pick up new on-air dramas for the rest of the year. I might do October instead as my last month but I have not decided. I am not going to have a TON of drama watching time in November and December so, I don't want to fall behind with on-air dramas. I hopefully am still going to be watching dramas, might just not be new ones. We will see when we get there.
