MY STRATEGY FOR DAILY DRAMAS

Last week, I talked about my journey of discovering, trying and FINALLY succeeding with watching a daily drama. I know there are many Kdrama watchers like me who are intimidated by the daily dramas. Whether that is because of the episode count or that it might be "TOO MAKJANG (crazy)" for you. WELL, I AM HERE TO TRY AND HELP! This post will be about the strategies that I used to successfully complete my first daily Kdrama. I know I touched on them a little bit in last week's post. These are the tips that helped me. I know a lot of people have different strategies or tips to watch daily Kdramas but these worked for me.

- WATCH THE DAILY DRAMA AS IT AIRS

One strategy that worked for me was watch the daily drama as it airs. That way, I only had one 30-minute episode to watch a day. By watching one episode a day, I didn't get overwhelmed by the episode count or falling behind on the drama. If I did miss a couple of episodes, it was only 1 or 2 hours tops to watch over the weekend to catch up. This way, the episode count didn't intimidate because I was watching the drama in chunks.

-WATCH 1 DAILY DRAMA AT A TIME

DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE AND TRY AND WATCH MULTIPLE DAILY DRAMAS AT ONCE!

😂 I made this mistake and got overwhelmed. I ended up dropping all the daily dramas I was watching at once. I recommend to just watch 1 daily drama at a time ESPECIALLY if you are watching regular 16-episode Kdramas or other dramas along with the daily drama. If you want to watch more than 1 daily drama at a time, I would recommend you watch one weekly daily drama and then maybe a weekender drama OR don't mix a daily drama with a BUNCH of other dramas and be watching everything at once.

- WATCH AT LEAST 1 EPISODE A DAY/WEEK

If you do choose to watch a daily drama when it is done, I would recommend that you watch it like it is airing. Try to watch an episode a day or maybe a certain number of episodes a week. This way, you aren't overwhelmed by the sheer number of episodes. It might make the drama less intimidating for you and the next thing you know - YOU WILL HAVE FINISHED YOUR FIRST DAILY DRAMA! You can use this strategy of course if you are watching a daily or weekender drama as it airs too.

-KNOW WHAT TOPICS YOU LIKE

I mentioned this last week in my first daily drama post but knowing what theme or topic I liked in my daily dramas really helped me finish my first one. I had tried the family weekend dramas and just got bored. What really kept me watching a daily drama was REVENGE!! I am a sucker for a good revenge story. It took a lot of trial and error for me to discover this. If you love romance and warm-hearted stories, maybe try a weekender family drama. If you know you are like me and want ALL THE DRAMA AND REVENGE (maybe murder is involved), find a daily drama with those themes in the synopsis. The more you are interested in the story and characters, the more likely you will stick with it and finish the drama.

-TAKE AS LONG AS YOU NEED

THIS IS NOT A RACE!! Make your own schedule and take all the time you need to finish your first daily/weekend drama. If you get behind on an airing daily drama OR miss a couple days, DON'T WORRY! If you are still enjoying the drama, continue with it. You can watch the drama at your own pace and schedule and then you won't feel pressured or overwhelmed. The more you enjoy your first daily drama watching experience, THE MORE ADDICTED YOU WILL GET TO THEM! TRUST ME ON THIS - I AM NOW ADDICTED TO DAILY DRAMAS! 😂

-HAVE WATCH BUDDIES

THIS HELPED ME A TON! Find some friends and watch your first one together. I have a group chat on twitter where we all yell at each other as we yell at our screens about the CRAZY stuff that goes on in our daily drama. It made my watching experience more fun and also kept me motivated to continue watching the drama. This chat has turned into we just tell each other about all the daily dramas we are watching, no matter if the others are watching it or not. This group chat always makes me laugh because of all the storylines that are thrown into our conversation. "Oh, the mistress in my drama just stabbed her rival in my drama!" "OH YEAH! well I just had the male lead find out he has cancer for the 3rd time in my drama which means he might not be alive by the end to find out that the child that he has always thought is his coworker's child is actually his from a one-night stand!" 😂😂😂
