I SWEAR - I say this every month when I write this post BUT I CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE HALF WAY THROUGH 2021 ALREADY! I need to write my HALF WAY THROUGH 2021 DRAMALAND POST too. FIRST, LET'S END JUNE 2021! Since I have not started any new dramas and I am just trying to finish the dramas I am already watching, June seemed to be VERY slow for me. I still did a decent job, I think. JULY IS GOING TO BE CRAZY, I THINK!🤣
DRAMAS/MOVIES I COMPLETED IN JUNE:
June was a good month for dramas. I completed A LOT of good ones and one not so good. 😂 You will DEFINITELY see a theme in this month of what I completed. I clearly have a type that I love to watch. We will see what I finish in July.
Dark Hole (Kdrama)(VIKI): This was the ONE drama that could have been SO MUCH BETTER! I do have to hand it to OCN for trying new genres and pushing boundaries. I like that the network doesn't conform and tries new things. I still enjoyed this drama despite its faults, it just could have been SO MUCH BETTER if some aspects were different. Some of the storyline didn't wrap up or didn't wrap up how I wanted them too. THE OSTS ARE FANTASTIC and the acting was PHENOMENAL!
Kingdom: Legendary War (KVariety)(VIKI): I am COMPLETELY bias when it comes to this show. I LOVED IT! I am a fan of all the groups so I just had fun with the show. I loved watching all the performances. It was just fun and relaxing to watch this show because I just had a good time while watching it.
Law School (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): THIS IS A FANTASTIC DRAMA!! I love that it was more than just a crime drama. It was an ensemble drama so we got a lot of stories and characters to work with. The drama used its platform to bring up and attack social issues WHICH I ALWAYS LOVE WHEN A DRAMA DOES THIS! THE OSTS ARE FANTASTIC! THE ACTING IS AMAZING! The drama is engaging from start to finish. I CAN'T BELIEVE I almost didn't watch this drama.
Sell Your Haunted House (Kdrama) (VIKI): This drama was great too. You had FOUND FAMILY (a fav of mine), ghosts and comedy. The stories were a lot more heartwarming than I thought they would be. Some of the middle episodes got repetitive and boring for me BUT I still liked this drama A LOT!
Mine (Kdrama) (NETFLIX): I always LOVE when a drama gives me an ending that I don't predict. MINE DID THAT! On the surface, Mine is a crime drama BUT IT IS SO MUCH MORE! It is a woman centered/strong woman drama WHICH I LOVE! It had a character in it WHICH WAS groundbreaking in my opinion and I hope this character has opened some doors in Kdramaland. There were a few characters that I thought were under-utilized. I LOVED THE MESSAGE AT THE END OF THIS DRAMA!
NEW JULY DRAMAS I AM EXCITED FOR:
ALL of the dramas I looking forward to in July are Kdramas. I have not heard of what is premiering this month from other countries. I am sure others will pop up FOR SURE! All of these dramas have premiere dates right now but I have no idea where some might air. We will see if I get access to all of them.
The Devil Judge (KDRAMA)(VIKI): [STARTS ON JULY 3RD, 2021]
THIS IS A DRAMA THAT HAS ME WRITTEN ALL OVER IT! You got crime. You got a dystopian world. You got AN AWESOME CAST!! I am SO EXCITED to check this one out because it could be SO GOOD and one of those dramas where I am looking forward to new episodes. We will have to wait and see.
You Are My Spring (KDRAMA)(NETFLIX): [STARTS ON JULY 5TH, 2021]
I originally wasn't going to check this drama out AT ALL! Then a sentence was added to the end of the synopsis that mentions murder SO I GUESS I NEED TO CHECK IT OUT NOW! I was pleasantly surprised by Find Me in Your Memory last year so maybe this will have the same vibe. I also like Kim Dong Wook A LOT so that is a plus too.
The Witch's Diner (KDRAMA)(VIKI): [STARTS ON JULY 16TH, 2021]
A lot of elements mentioned for this drama ARE RIGHT UP MY ALLEY! You got a fantasy genre. You got witches. You maybe got magic. I mean, JUST LOOK AT THE POSTER!
The stills and teasers look SUPER interesting for this drama. I also am a fan of Chae Jong Hyeop so I am excited to see him in a drama again so soon after his last one.
Kingdom: Ashin of the North (KDRAMA SPECIAL)(NETFLIX): [STARTS ON JULY 23RD, 2021]
COME ON!! IT IS KINGDOM!! OF COURSE, I AM GOING TO BE SUPER EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!! I can't believe it is FINALLY HERE! I wish it was more than just an hour and a half episode BUT I WILL TAKE IT!! I am really curious what story elements this will add to the entire Kingdom universe and how it will fit in to everything. also...SEASON 3 OF KINGDOM WHEN!!?
Please Check the Event (KDRAMA): [STARTS ON JULY 30TH, 2021]
(haven't had any posters/pictures released yet)
I am SUPER BIAS when it comes to this drama. This genre is not something I usually go for. It might be a nice change to whatever else I will be watching when I watch this one. It is also short-only 4 episodes. The ONLY draw for me with this drama is that I get to Kwon Hwa Woon on my screen again AND SO SOON AFTER MOUSE! I have come to ADORE HIM!
